About The Project

Lancium Clean Campus

We partnered with Lancium on their Clean Campus in Fort Stockton, Texas. This facility is Lancium's state of the art facility which acts as a Controllable Load Resource powered by their proprietary Smart Response software which allows the entire data center to respond in real time to instability and market conditions on the ERCOT power grid.

Immersion Cooling Design

We were responsible for the immersion cooling design and build which we scaled up from the 2.5MW designs at our Albany, GA facility. We implemented unique vertical stacking of four immersion tanks, making this data center the most power-dense in the world. The full Intellectual Property is owned by the Digital Carpenters team.

We broke ground in January of 2022 and Digital Carpenters oversaw the General Contractor and deployment of $30M in Capex. Through our project and vendor management, the first pod of miners was hashing in May of 2022- just five months later.

Customer Reporting

Digital Carpenters provided individualized, detailed reporting for customers in the facility based on their unique needs, including the stringent demands of PubCos. We created a robust system of monthly reporting including hashrate, repairs, trend analysis, asset tracking, spare part inventory, financial performance, and many custom KPIs.

Ongoing Operations

We ran a 24/7/365 manned operation at this location. We created processes and procedures for troubleshooting, inspections, repair handling, preventative maintenance, and customer reporting. Leveraging tools like Foreman, Smart Response, Asana, and MaintainX, our operations staff developed ticketing systems and controls to ensure we maximized customer returns.

Technician Hiring & Training

We hired and trained 40+ technicians over the 4 years-- each starting with zero knowledge of the data center industry. In that time, we created robust training material and tightened up our processes to have new technicians fully ramped up in short order. This process included graded tests on miner repair, facility maintenance, SCADA, and several other key tools in our process flow. We committed to hiring local talent, training them in a cutting-edge industry, and paying them above average wage-- cementing our impact to the local economy.

Operating in West Texas

The climate in West Texas is unforgiving, with summer days consistently in the triple digits. To keep customer equipment cool and operating effective, we designed our own cost-effective adiabatic cooling system which continues to run today.
